HR Director – Leicestershire (Maternity Cover)

This role is key role in managing change and ensuring the achievement of the Company’s strategic goals through effective people management practices. Through fresh ideas, innovative approaches, and inclusiveness, the HR Director will have the ability to create a harmonious, fun, yet challenging and rewarding work environment.

Covering a maternity leave for up to 12 months, this role is Senior Management Team level, responsible for HR within the Organisaton’s managed service function, specialising in the waste, recycling and utilities sectors across the UK.

Managing two HR Business Partners, the HR Director will be responsible for: –

  • Overall control of the human resource function
  • Audit and Compliance functions in relation to permanent employees and flexible workforce.
  • Oversight and sign-off of employee communications
  • Management of Employee Relations
  • Legislation Management and subsequent risk profiling and mitigation
  • Sign-off of training plans, suppliers and budget management
  • Continuous development of the HR team
  • Health and Safety management
  • Overview and monitoring of performance management processes
  • Application of workforce planning data to improve people practices and value
  • External payroll and outsourced supplier liaison
  • Creation and development of policies and procedures
  • Cultural development; ensuring values, vision and mission statements are inherent withing the workforce.
  • Ensuring ethical and responsible practices are in place
  • Management of employee voice and engagement
  • Maintaining current client relationships and developing new working practices; providing HR support, collaborative working, monthly review meetings and Smart representative at working groups
  • Strategic development; review and forecast of spend; pro-active development of processes to support cost-reduction
  • Digital working to evaluate system impacts on employee experience and technology risks in relation to employment law
  • Support to Regional Directors and Managing Director on people matters including change management
  • Reward management and development; remuneration benchmarking, benefits survey and analysis, broker liaison, incentive scheme development
  • Management of Modern Slavery prevention, detection and rehabilitation practices

Essential: –

  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent level experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service

  • Previous experience the recruitment and waste/recycling industries
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard working hours
  • Experience in a production / waste recycling environment
